Cute & Creepy: Creature Collage Workshop with JK (Jo) Russ

Enjoy this fun, collaborative collage class hosted by international artist, JK Russ. Students will connect their human selves with the creatures who share our local habitat. Learn how to create a surreal collage, starting with unique cut outs of desert creatures. Anthropomorphize these creatures by attaching human arms that reach out and connect with project participants. Each participant can select or draw their own creature, and add to the growing collage. Suitable for all ages and no previous experience required. This class is an epic community builder!

All about JK (Jo) Russ: Originally from New Zealand, Jo is now based in Las Vegas and is known for her surreal hand-constructed collage works where high fashion, high art and hybrid human/creatures merge. She has created large-scale audience-participation collage installations for the Life is Beautiful festival, the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Delano Las Vegas and UNLV Barrick Museum of Art. She has taught drawing at UNLV College of Fine Arts, and conducted collage workshops for the Nevada Museum of Art, Left of Center Gallery, Nevada Humanities, Creative Mornings and the Sprat Teaching Artist program. JK has worked with participants of all ages and abilities and enjoys experiencing the invaluable community-building outcomes of collaborative creative experiences.
